From the Treasurer…

My Treasurer’s presentation at the APCM was based on our verse for the year “unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain” (Psalm 127:1). I confirmed our 2025 accounts showed a house that was in good financial order. However, looking forward to 2026 and beyond, I explained that we are into a time of “rebuilding”, with the need to grow regular giving and our reserves to continue to build God’s Kingdom in this place.

In conversations, particularly with those coming new to church, many are surprised that All Saints receives no regular funding from national church. We are a net giver to our Diocese to support ministry in more financially challenged communities. There can be amazement at the statistic that over 80% of our general church expenditure including staff salaries, church building running costs and our missional grants is funded by giving from the church family. PCC remains very grateful that many households choose to give regularly through our pledged giving scheme. If you are not a member, is it something you could prayerfully consider joining at this time? Details can be found on our website here, leaflets at the back of church or ask members of the ministry or welcome team at a service.

At each 9.15AM service, when the offertory plate is brought up, we hear the words “yours, Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the splendour and the majesty; for everything in heaven and earth is yours”. We respond “all things come from you and of your own do we give you”. A moment in our worship to reflect on God’s abundant generosity to us and how we might respond. Thank you for all the financial gifts to support All Saints’ ministry and mission.

Our August Service Plans

During August, there will be no 8am Sunday Service but each week all are welcome to a liturgical and quieter 9.15am with Holy Communion.

The 9.15 will have hymns accompanied by organ, lectionary readings and a sermon. We are delighted to welcome occasional and visiting preachers including Margaret Wooding Jones, Michael Gordon and Emily McDonald from the cathedral.

11am will be Sacred Spaces. We shall be meeting at 11 o’clock outside in the churchyard. There will be coffee and cakes, meditations, activities and singing, enabling us to encounter God in and with creation.

At 6pm evening worship, we will be looking at some of those really short books at the end of the New Testament. Ever known what 3 John or Philemon are about? Come along to find out!

Children’s Ministry Request

Dear All Saints’ amazing people, you all look lovely today (yes, I am after something!).

The Sunday morning kid’s group at 11 needs some more volunteers to assist with the group. There is a vision to hopefully take them back to the halls again during the service, however this needs more helpers who are DBS checked to make sure we all get there and back in one piece. It doesn’t have to be every week – in fact, once every month or two would help ease the rota slightly and enables us to really deliver Jesus in a positive and relevant way. If you need training or help, or just want to talk it through, please come and see me or even better sit in on a session, as this is a great way to see how awesome and inspiring these kids are.

Proverbs 22:6 - “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it”.

Thank you, Tony Harris.

Grace Food Bank

We offer our sincere thanks to Peter Pond, who, for many years, has taken items donated via All Saints to the Grace Food Bank. Peter has now retired from doing this, and we are no longer collecting items for the food bank in church. If you’d like to continue to support the food bank, then do consider donating via the collecting box at Sainsbury’s, Archer Road, or via Standing Order – please see their website: https://www.gracefoodbanksheffield.org.uk

Prayer Box

Pray for schools, children, and their staff as they prepare to break up for the summer holidays this week.

Pray for clergy, staff, and church members from across the diocese as they spend three days at their diocesan conference this week.

Prayer for those attending the diocesan synod on Saturday 18th July, and for fruitful discussions.

Mission Prayers

Milan and Shusma are shortly flying to the UK to visit the Ichthus Revive camp. Please pray for their Aanandit Church Vision 2033. It states a desire to plant 40 churches, send missionaries to the Nepali diaspora, support full-time pastors, and build a well-facilitated building for the main Aanandit Church in Imadol. May God provide the resources, wisdom, and faithful workers needed to fulfill this vision for God’s glory.
